Bought this 18 months ago for my wife. Works perfectly. We open several bottles of wine a week and have had no problems. I would suggest holding the bottle and opener firmly then let the opener do all the work. Do not try to help it or force it by pushing up or down. This may be why some are experiencing breakage. Just bought 2 more for my friends as a gift. Also, once the cork is out of the bottle, reverse the motor and let cork come out on its own. Flip the cork over and it will fit right back in the bottle. Great Product. We leave ours on the charger at all times because the blue light looks kind of cool on our counter.

The motor is very weak on this wine opener. You will be lucky to be able to even open ONE bottle with it, even after a full charge. Then you have to charge it again before trying to open a second bottle with it. I stopped using it and went back to a manual opener because this electric wine opener is so weak that I had to still pull the cork out the bottle with it near the end of one cork extraction. Maybe the battery is just no good in the unit I received. All I know is I would not recommend it to any of my friends. In fact, I am probably going to throw this one away.
